Your network—our network—has cool, smart people with real range.
One such person is the talented Sean Brawley.
Sean grew up in the unforgiving, Hunger Games–like world of junior tennis — rankings shifting constantly, travel relentless, discipline early and real. He became a Top 10 nationally ranked junior and won the U.S. Boys’ 16 Doubles title.
At the University of Southern California, he earned All-American honors, competing at the top of the lineup in both singles and doubles.
He later played on the ATP Tour. Sean reached career highs of No. 148 in singles and No. 137 in doubles. In 1982, he captured a Challenger doubles title and appeared in the main draw of the US Open.
I’ve long been friends with former pro Carlos Aguilar, who competed in the same decade and faced legends like John McEnroe.
When I mentioned Sean to Carlos, he remembered him immediately.
When I mentioned Carlos to Sean, same thing.
No hype. Just recognition.
Different stages of the same era. Same grind.
Like Sean, Carlos moved from elite sport into business and built a successful career in Northern California. Sean, now based in Connecticut, applies the craft of tennis to leadership coaching and advisory work.
Recently, Sean and I sat down at the Penn Club to talk craft — rhythm, timing, preparation, and how small adjustments compound. Whether on court or in business, fundamentals matter.
